“We couldn’t have had our perfect elopement day without the WVEC team’s careful planning and thoughtful energy to carry us through such an incredible wedding experience”
-Jess and Hillary
We created the West Virginia Elopement Collective to combine our love of the outdoors with our passion for adventurous elopements. Our love of the West Virginia terrain and all its’ beauty runs deep and the more couples we get to share the country roads with, the more alive we feel in our paths.
We have two West Virginia natives on our team whose desire to share the beauty of Appalachia in the elopement industry led to the creation this one-of-a-kind collective. It only took one visit from our Oregon-born, West Virginia transplant, and third team-member to fall in love with our mountain state and it is our hope that you will too.

Braiden Maddox from
Lady Mountain Films.
Lead videographer and the heart behind this amazing collective.
Braiden is a location scouting guru who loves being outside more than anybody we know (seriously.) Braiden is best known for this text response “Sorry I was in the woods camping.”
Her love of the outdoors plays heavy on her desire for more rad elopements in the beautiful backdrops that West Virginia has to offer. She is a wiz at creating videos that tell a story and is all around just a badass person to be around. Her calming presence adds a really peaceful energy to elopement days.
Michelle Breiter from The Breiters. Lead Photographer and lover of all things unique and wild.
Michelle’s photography style is fueled by connection, laughter, and getting real. She’ll set the stage for you to enjoy having your photo taken and 10/10 times people say “that was actually fun!”
When it came time for Michelle to plan her own wedding, it stressed her out to the point of saying “f*ck it” and she and Thomas planned an intimate elopement in the Caribbean instead. Using inspiration from their own elopement, intimate and intentional weddings has ignited Michelle’s love of small shindigs and the realness of a what a wedding day can be.
Thomas Breiter of The Breiters. Officiant, safety guide, hype man, drone pilot, assistant, and jack-of-all-trades.
What doesn’t Tom do? He’ll make sure your marriage is legal with a custom and probably funny, yet meaningful ceremony. He’ll also make sure we're all playing it safe on the trails while playing some tunes to keep us moving. When he’s not officiating or coordinating, he’ll be flying the drone or assistant shooting for Braiden and Michelle. He’s also an excellent pack mule and will end up carrying alll the bags.
Most importantly, he’ll be in charge of your picnic and desert. Food is really where his heart lies.
We say, it’s time to plan your wedding exactly how you want. And it starts here with the decision to elope.
“The West Virginia Elopement Collective team made us feel super comfortable in front of the camera and made sure we had time to really soak in the moment. They were up for anything and always had a positive attitude on our elopement day.”
